- A Project For: Audrey
- Age: Newborn
- Location: Los Angeles, CA

Description:
I focused on a modern nursery that would easily transition with Audrey as she grows. A baby's room that wasn't too "baby" or overly girlie. Her parents are young, cool, and hip...and that's what I wanted to convey in the design. Baby Audrey did her best to let me know what she liked too--lots of swirls and lots of kicking.

Design Inspiration:
The home is contemporary with many zen and asian influences. I kept with the theme of the home and ran with the idea of cherry blossoms as our inspiration--a modern take on the cherry blossom!

Decorating Style:
Modern with a touch of vintage and a pinch of handmade.

Favorite Items:
The ottoman is a piece that adds so much life and color to the room while multi-tasking as additional seating, a soft surface that Audrey can use to learn the art of balance and standing, and a cute place to display cuddly stuffed animals and baby books. The fabric used is baby-friendly and the ottoman is lightweight for easy mobility. It's been a big hit when family and friends visit.
The two framed custom art pieces are my other favorite. I was having a pretty difficult time finding contemporary children's artwork, so I was very lucky to be able to collaborate with a.mish+shrimp to create these two custom pieces. The artworks were created using a combination of hand screen printing and hand cut objects and words.

Advice:
Think Transition! I did my best to make sure that the room would still be current when Audrey is in kindergarden and years to come. We'll have to move a few pieces around and update some accessories, but we established a good foundation of furniture pieces. Even as a tween, a velvet upholstered bed with silver nailhead details is all we need. I can see it already... :)
