Modern Baby Boy’s Nursery

Description

Modern Blue/Brown Boy's Nursery with several diverse design elements.

Design Inspiration

After seeing all of the great contemporary children's furniture that is available, I knew I wanted a modern nursery. When I found the rug for the room at spunkysprout.com, it served as my inspiration for the colors and design for the rest of the room. I covered one wall in fabric to cover an existing mural that I wasn't fond of in our rental home.

Decorating Style

Clean, modern design that's out of the box.

Project Details

I wasn't able to add color to the walls due to the fact that we are in a rental home, so I added color through fabrics, furniture, stuffed animals and other design elements. I found the Sahara Crib and rocker/recliner at PoshTots.com. The NurseryWorks dresser was a floor model that I bought at a discount since from a retailer. The cable shelving came from Container Store.

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the room is the dresser that I hope will carry him beyond his baby and toddler years.

Great room! I love the dresser. Where did you get it from? I'm looking for something similiar, but haven't found anything yet.

Thank you for the comments. I had to say that our new baby boy, 3 months now, loves his big green monkey! He smiles at it when I'm changing his diaper. He's very soft and squishy. I'm sure Grayson will love carrying him around, once the monkey isn't bigger than him!

I would much rather see color in fabrics and accent pieces than on the walls anyway. I think some people go way overboard with paint in a nursery. I also like the fact that you didn't cover the windows. Even with shutters or low light levels some people still smother a window to death. It would have been too much drapery in your room with the panel behind the crib.
