Make a Wish Fairy Garden

Description

Three year old Avery was diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor at age two. Her wish through Make a Wish Foundation was to receive a Fairy Garden Playroom for her sister, Maddy and herself. Avery has gone through so very much in her young life and is such a strong, brave little girl. When Make a Wish coordinator, Jenny Hauser contacted me to design this very special girl's playroom for Avery, we jumped on it. My assistant, Lisa O'Brien and I worked for months meticulously planning the space which included a life-like tree, a custom designed reading nook that we now refer to as the "Fairy Fountain", a dress up corner, play house, tea table complete with tea set, an art station (not seen in the images, as it was back ordered) and a spot for movie viewing. We solicited the hugely talented Patrice Hoban to paint our fairy mural and she really knocked our socks off with the details! She added glitter and gems and the room really came to life with her vision! We thank Cheryl of Sweet Lullaby for designing and donating the sweet curtains and valances, Chris Jones for designing the Fairy Fountain reading perch, Levels of Discovery for their donation of the tea table and toybox, New Arrivals, Inc for donating the peg hook, and Creative Carpet Design for donating the cute-as -a-button monogrammed rug. Avery and her family have a long road ahead of them. They will continue treatments at St. Jude Children's Hospital (to whom Jack and Jill Interiors has donated monthly for about 7 years now) and we will continue to love and pray for this wonderful and inspiring family. Please consider donating to St. Jude. Thank you!

Design Inspiration

Little Avery and her sister, Maddy love to play dress up and have tea parties. These sweet girls' imaginations inspired the room.

Decorating Style

Traditional and whimsical.

Project Details

Cheryl from Sweet Lullaby provided custom curtains complete with little flowers attached...she obviously put much love and care into their creation. And Patrice Hoban created the most stunning mural ever! She even added jewels and glitter throughout. She put her heart and soul into that mural! Both women really deserve our gratitude for helping to make this room a show-stopper with their talents!

Advice

Have a few strong men around to help you move that tree and anchor it! Whew...what a job that was! ;)

Thank you all for your kind words. Patrice and Lisa were so key in pulling this room together for us and we had so many generous donors as well. Avery and her family really touched us all and we ask that all of you who might read this and admire her room, will take a moment send happy thoughts and prayers for healing to our little sweetie. Thank you!

This is such a special way to help a little girl who has so much difficulty in her short life. For 9 wonderful years I volunteered as a wish granter for Make A Wish. Kudos Sherri! Maybe we can help you on your next wish.
