Yellow & Gray Nursery for Baby Boy

Design Inspiration

I was inspired by several other nurseries I saw online with the same color scheme.  I was hoping to create a space that was cheerful and bright. I wanted the nursery to be engaging for Maddox as he grows.

Decorating Style

My style is a mix of traditional and contemporary.  I like fun fabrics and whimsical patterns.  I prefer spaces that are more clean in style without too much clutter.

Project Details

My husband built the shallow wall bookshelves which were inspired by the Jennifer Delonge shelves. The dresser is the Hemnes from Ikea as well as the tall bookshelf in the corner. We painted the back of the tall bookshelf for a pop of color. My husband also built the cornice above the window and my mother and I made the crib skirt and the cornice covering. I had the changing cover and crib sheet custom made. The giraffe decal we ordered from Etsy.

Favorite Items

It's a tie - The forward facing bookshelves are one of my favorite parts of the nursery.  I love that we can change out the books and bring a pop of color to the gray walls. My other favorite item is the J Schatz egg nightlight. It reflects star light shapes on the ceiling and walls at night and makes the room look magical.

Take your time and think about the overall look you hope to achieve. I put together the room slowly over the course of my pregnancy, but I'm very happy with the cohesiveness.

I would love to see more pictures of your nursery!  I love your idea for the crib skirt, and the coordinating diaper pad cover.  I saw this fabric by Premier while searching for curtain fabric and I think the little giraffe pattern is so cool.  Well done!

I love your nursery!  I’m in the process of finishing mine and I wish I would have seen yours sooner.  Great job!

Cute room!  I love gray & yellow together.  Did you actually make a cover for the cornice or did you upholster it like you would a headboard?

I love the simplicity of this space!  Yellow & grey are one of my fav color combos!  Initially I was going to do that for my gender neutral nursery, but then changed my mind to add more pops of color

Hi, beautiful room! The giraffe decal is exact. I want. I checked Esty but couldn’t find one.
Which shop did you go on Esty??

We love your room! Especially love your wall color and chair. What brand and color paint did you use? Did you cover the chair yourself?

Love your room! I’m doing the same combo for my little girl. Where did you get and what is the name of the color you used on the wall?
