Liv’s Lounge

Description

Liv's Lounge is a whimsy mix of modern and shabby chic. I am all about color, different textures & patterns and unique design. I really wanted her room to be something that will grow with her. I don't care for baby-ish themes so I just started buying pieces that struck my fancy. Luckily, by accident, everything came together perfectly! I couldn't be more pleased with the final product!

Design Inspiration

Even before we found out we were having a baby girl, my creative juices were flowing in both directions. I had started an inspiration board for a boy and one for a girl. But let's be honest... decorating for a girlie is so much more fun! I started pinning a lot of nurseries on pinterest which then linked me back to project nursery. I quickly became OBSESSED with this site and looked through EVERY page of posted nurseries and checked back every night for new ones. After much browsing, time was-a-tickin' and I had to make a decision and get this party started. Sooo... I decided I wanted gray walls with pink, turquoise and lime green accents. A lot of my inspiration came from these nurseries....

I am still in love with all of them. :)

Decorating Style

I would say my style is very 'off the cuff.' That's how I am with all aspects of my life; very impromptu. I always have my eyes open for cool, one-of-a-kind pieces or ideas for DIY projects.

Project Details

This will take me FOREVER with a four month old needing me now! For pete's sake, it took me 5 months to get this out here! ;)

Please leave a comment and ask if you're wondering about something and I'd be more than happy to share!

Favorite Items

Yikes! I can't just pick one... I love the mobile, chandelier, silhouette, birth stats and florida print. Oh and that big mirror!

Advice

My advice is just go with it. A nursery should be a special haven for your little love and what better way to create that than just letting go of any rules and just 'feeling' it. Start by finding things (decorative items, fabrics, colors, textures, ideas, special/meaningful things, etc.) that you really love and just let them guide you. I guarantee that it will all circle back with a one-of-a-kind theme and vibe that you will LOVE!

I love your color combinations. I have been looking for white and dark wood furniture combos. Where did you get your dresser?

Pretty nursery. That shabby chic teal chair in the corner looks so charming!
