Lillia’s Lovely Haven

Description

We are expecting our first baby June 6, 2013.  We are beyond excited for our baby girl Lillia Joy to arrive.  We are military, so we are limited to assigned housing, but with a little creativity made it a haven that we love spending time in.  I hope baby Lillia likes it as much as we do!

Design Inspiration

Our inspiration is our little girl.  We wanted only the best for our little girl and as she grew in my belly, we were more and more inspired.  My favorite colors are pink and grey (these were also our wedding colors), so colors were easy.  Additionally, we were on a budget so we did a bunch of DIY.

Decorating Style

My mother is one of the best decorators I know, so she really is my mentor in decorating.  I like things that are classy, simplistic and eclectic.  I enjoy internationally inspired decorations.  One thing that is most important is to make a room personal and include pictures that bring joy to those seeing them.

DIY Projects

Paintings - My own creation
Mobile - Idea adapted from Pinterest (faux flowers, ribbon and a embroidery hoop)
Headband Holder - Idea from Pinterest (http://www.ontobaby.com/2012/10/kennedys-shabby-chic-nursery-in-gray-and-pink/)
Lamp - Idea from another Project Nursery creation (http://projectnursery.com/projects/madisyns-shabby-chic-vintage-nursery/)

Favorite Items

I love the lamp I made.  It was the most time consuming and labor intensive DIY project in the nursery, so perhaps it is all the love that went into it that makes me love it.

Advice

I think simplicity is key.  Find two or three things you really want to do and center your room around it.  I knew the colors I wanted, the mobile and the lamp and otherwise, build the room around those items.

Really gorgeous design! I feel inspired for my little girl's room. I love this shade of pink... What is the painting's brand and name of the color? Congrats!

Love the ottoman and those flowery pillows! I'm not even sure if flowery is the right word. Petally? Surely not poufy, right? And that's a really pretty lily painting!
