A Project For

Lila Cate

Age

due August 2012

Location

San Antonio, Texas

Description

Lila's nursery is a whimsical mix of color, print, and design. I wanted to incorportate my chevron obession (without going overboard) and give the nursery a colorful and bright feel that could grow with my daughter. Since this is my third baby, I wanted to be a little wild... and decided to make a statement with the dark pink dresser and white glider. Totally impractical? Maybe. Fabulous for design? Absolutely. It's my third... no rules apply, right?

Design Inspiration

I'm obsessed with anything chevron at the moment, hence the NEW Caden Lane Ikat/Chevron Collection, so when I found out I was having a girl... the nursery design planning started - all around the Lila Baby Bedding, of course. :-)

Decorating Style

My style changes from year to year, it's probably pretty obvious as you scroll through the pages of the Caden Lane collections. I think design starts with color, and instead of adding a "theme" to the nursery, you should focus on adding personal touches... it will mean so much more to you in the long run. And always decorate with the future in mind! In two years, you'll be packing up that crib, and introducing a big kid bed... so instead of completely redesigning that nursery you worked so hard on, make sure you can coordinate twin/full bedding later on! Good thing Caden Lane has a full line of big kid bedding too! :-)

Project Details

We will be adding everything in this nursery to our website shortly, so check out www.CadenLane.com for more info!

Chevron Wall: DIY Tutorial

Crib Bedding: Caden Lane Lila 3 piece set

Crib, Bookcase, & Dresser: Newport Cottages

Recliner Glider: Little Castle (I used their white minky fabric, and sent in the turqouise trim - found at a local fabric store for less than $5/yard!)

Monogram Ruffle Blanket: Caden Lane Stroller Blankets

Rug & Lamp: Pottery Barn Teen, lamp base is from Target

Baby book: I purchased at Nursery Couture in San Antonio (210) 494-2627 - they have TONS of colors available!

Changing Pad Cover: Caden Lane Pink Chevron

Pink Chevron Stacking Baskets: Land of Nod

Monogramed Square Pillow: Caden Lane Square Pillow

Bunting Flags: on etsy from StarlitNest, I sent her Caden Lane fabric that matches the bedding.

Button Monogram Wall Art: on etsy from letter perfect designs and I added the pink ribbon.

Curtains: White Panels are from JC Penny, and then I hot glued the dark pink rosette trim to the border! So easy, and less than $50 per panel!

Ottoman Pouf: ordered on etsy from Aletafae.

White Mirror: local Homegoods store

Kids Chair & Ottoman: from www.NurseryCouture.com (kidkraft is the brand), and the pink cat on the chair is also from the store.

Large Bucket w/ Monogram: www.NurseryCouture.com

WALL ART:

Frames are from Cut It Out, they come raw, and I just painted them in the colors to coordinate. So easy!

Pink Mirror, small turquoise mirrors, and square flowers: all from Hobby Lobby (painted & added bling myself)

Chevron L, Dream Sprakle Shine, Alaphabet, and Lila wall art: all created digitally myself and then printed on photopaper!

LOVE wall art: on etsy from The Wheatfield.

I just love the burst of color for the crib and the wall near it. I just assumed that chevron would look messy and busy, but I was wrong!

LOVE this nursery! Of course I am wild for aqua. What wall color is this? We are fixing to build a barndominium to live in while we build a house that will be the guest house afterwards. I am going to do fun funky colors in there and would love to paint some walls this color!!

    Thank you!!!

How did you get the effect of the chevron wall if only the “gaiety” paint color was used? Did you use a base layer under the “gaiety” color? Or is the darker shade created by many coats?
