Lara’s Pink, Gray and White Nursery

Description

We wanted to create a modern and calming nursery for our baby girl. Pink walls was not our favorite, but we were so worried if gray would be too cold for a nursery but it turned out perfect. We really enjoyed every second of this DIY pink, gray and white nursery.

Design Inspiration

Butterflies and rabbits are our favorite animals and with the pieces we found everything turned out perfect. Also gray walls with pink, white and gray accents and furniture balance worked really good together.

Decorating Style

We wanted to have a modern and functional nursery with minimum number of furniture. Looked for pieces that are meaningful for us and also tried to utilize some of the furniture/toys we have. Also didn't want to pay a fortune

Project Details

The first step was to pick the right color for the paint. "Gray" but which one!!! This is the moment we realized how many different shades of gray is available :) We started with three samples. The previous color on the walls were pink so it is important to use a sample before you start painting the room. We were lucky cos our friends gave us additional 16 different shades of gray samples that they tried for their house but we ended up picking one of the top three that we started with so no need to go crazy with options :) Our color is Disney Paint Colors - Making Tracks and painting all room cost $50 and 1 day.

Next was the crib. We looked for something simple, modern and functional. 4-in-1 cribs sounds like a great option that you can use for the next 10 years so we picked Delta Children Layla 4-in-1 Crib, White. This model doesn't have drawers under but since I have a bed skirt I am using the space for extra diapers, wet wipes etc... So working well for me.Also when we found Koala Baby Sweet Bunny 4-Piece Crib Bedding Set - Gray/Pink we were so happy cos it fit perfectly to the theme :))

We ordered a wall decal and butterflies from China. It took around 30 days but I've ordered them in advance and really liked what we got at the end. For the name decal and 48 butterflies I ended up paying $10.

I believe a nice closet with lots of shelves is important for a functional nursery. We used Pax systems from Ikea where you can create a custom made closet and spent ~$200. It is expensive compared to other furniture we have but love the functionality and space it provides.

Used the lamps we have at home. Added some butterflies on the floor lamp as well. Bought brand new blinds and curtain and used little toys to create curtain tiebacks.

I didn't want too spend $300-400 for a rocking chair since I will be using it only for a few years max so "Stork Craft Custom Hoop Glider and Ottoman, White/Gray Chevron" was my choice since it is nice enough and still on a budget.

Finally we wanted to add some decor on walls. We bought empty white frames and used some toys to fill them. Also used the onesie that was signed at our baby shower for decoration which is a great memory.
