Pancakes and pajamas second birthday brunch
Design Inspiration
I have been planning a Pankcakes and PJs party for Julia for about 6 months. As I was searching etsy for invitations, I came across one designed by the same shop that made the wall hangings in her new big girl room and I was sold. I love the pink and gold combination which feels fun and girly without being too babyish. I took the gold and ran with it!

Project Details
Invitations: Sprinkled Designed on Etsy
Table clothes and paper products: Dollar Tree. That's one of my tricks for parties on a budget. Always check there to see if they have your disposable items. To dress the table up, I added gold polka dotted bows which strung up the top table cloth
Backdrop: I had intended to have the party outside until an Ohio fall day changed that. I wanted to cover up my boring garage and make it a fun backdrop for photos. When we moved the party inside, I still wanted to do something interesting. I used balloon decorating tape to string together the combination of gold, white and pink balloons and simply hung together a couple of disposable pink table clothes. As soon as I saw that gold 2, I knew I wanted it to play prominently in the backdrop. I love how it turned out and photos don't do it justice.
Table decor: I knew I wanted gold 2's to feature in the decor, so when I found these 7" ones from BargainBalloons.com, I knew I had to get some. These are airfill only, so I filled them with a pump and heat-sealed them with my hair straightener. I taped them to skewers I had spray painted gold. I used a variety of vases with different beads to prop up the 2's. Additionally, when I came across the 7" letters, I knew I wanted to spell Julia to add interest to my large dining room table. I also incorporated some of the 2's into my regular seasonal decor.
Signs: Also from Sprinkled Designs. I have these exact sayings hanging in her room and I adore them. Julia is my sparkley girl and this theme suits her. I displayed them in inexpensive frames I spray painted gold.
Pancake bar: We made the batter in advance and my dad offered (was coerced) into manning the griddle. We had him far enough away that children couldn't burn themselves. He made the pancakes to order and kids could add a variety of toppings. We also had quiche, fruit and yogurt, but the pancakes were the biggest seller.
Mimosa Bar: What brunch is complete without mimosas. We had three different types of juice, champagne and fruit garnish. This was a hit!
Coffee Bar (not pictured): We ordered a to-go container from Starbucks and had different creamers for a coffee bar. We went ahead and used Starbucks disposable cups.
Activities: I had planned for outside play, but when that changed I created a necklace making station with pipecleaners and Fruit Loops and a pumpkin decorating station inside.
Cake: From our local Goodie Shop. This is actually a donut and was one of my favorite parts of the party! We also had a variety of other donuts available for guests. This bakery is the best and they ship!
PJs: All the kids wore their PJs and some adults did too. I loved the sweatshirt I wore, found here.
Party Favors: "If You Give a Pig a Pancake" from Kohl's Cares program. The proceeds to go charity, so it was a win-win!
Favorite Items
The donut cake! That is actually a giant donut, not a cake shaped to look like a donut. I also really loved the giant gold 2.
Advice
Don't go overboard, but pick a few key elements you want to carry through the party and run with it. For me it was the gold 2's and the breakfast theme.
