Jonah’s Circus Party

Description

I wanted to do something bright and fun for my son and his fellow 2 year old friends and a Circus fit the bill.

Design Inspiration

Anything that reflected the colorful energy of a circus - animals, bunting and banners, big balloons and a 'big top' tent. I had a trawl around Pinterest and Etsy for ideas and inspiration as well.

Decorating Style

Bright! Red, teal and yellow color scheme.

Project Details

I wanted everything from the invitation to walking in the front door to make the kids feel like they were coming to an event. I found the perfect invitation that actually looked like a big ticket at Pear Tree Greetings (http://www.peartreegreetings.com/). Giant 3ft red & white balloons with teal streamers greeted guests in the hallway as they entered the house. I also had the Ikea Circus Tent that the 2 year olds loved to run in and out of throughout the party Ikea also has a fantastic range of plastic plates, bowls and kids cutlery in a rainbow of bright colors. The favor bags had circus inspired books like - 'If I ran the circus" by Dr. Seuss, "You See a Circus. I See." by Mike Downs and Anik McGrory, and others - and a fun mix of animal cracker boxes and individual cupcakes in circus big top boxes at purchases through Amazon.com. All the paper items like napkin rings and mini bunting for the cake were purchased as printable files on Etsy.

Favorite Items

My favorite part of the party - aside from the smile that was on my son's face the entire time - was the cake. The Cupcake Company made it and I knew that any sadness I would have from cutting into it would quickly be forgotten as everything they make is also delicious.

Festive colors that really reminds me of the carnival. Wish you had taken photos of the rest of the food or yummy treats, though.
