- A Project For: Jett Ky
- Age: 2 months
- Location: Oklahoma
Having a farming and ranching background on both sides of the family, we pulled a collection items from numerous family members to create this western themed room for our little cowboy.
I wanted to create a western a nursery that would grow with my son. I pulled inspiration from the many sentimental family items that I already had in my home, including my dad's leather baby belt, my great-grandparents longhorns that hung over the fireplace at their farmhouse, my husband's grandad's coatrack, and so on....
Bed and changing table - reused from my 4 year olds nursery
Chair - Storytime glider by BEST
Red end table - Gardenridge
Bookshelf - made by my step-grandfather years ago, has been passed down from my brother to my other son and now to Jett.
Cedar chest with leather lid - made by my Uncle
Custom made denim & pony minky bumper with red bandana ties and red bandana crib sheet.....made by Eileen's Kids, purchased on www.etsy.com
Custom made striped pillow, crib skirt, and window valance....made by a family friend a few years ago for my other son's vintage airplane nursery
"Little cowpoke" boppy cover - purchased from The Hay Patch on www.etsy.com
Pony minky blanket, pony minky changing pad cover, and Michael Miller "little cowpoke" blanket.... fabric purchased on www.fabric.com and hobby lobby and then made by my grandmother
Shadow box - Kirklands
Rocking horse - Pier 1
24inch Rustic tin "J" - Coyote Candle Company - Lubbock, TX
The following items were all purchased at Hobby Lobby: letter "E "on wall, crosses used for "T"s, "S" in shadow box, little buckaroo door hanger, rustic photo frames, clock on bookshelf , "cowboy" sign
Cowhide - belongs to my mother-in law
Horns above door - hung over the fireplace in great-grandparents farm house
Windmill coat rack - my husband's grandad's
Large tin used for diapers, small tin, rope hanging on coatrack, and brown floor rug - Atwoods
TEXAS brick - from my husbands grandparents
Bandana "JKS", "Jett" door hanger - made by my sister-in law
Wreath - made by my coworkers
Everything sentimental and the large "J" because I searched high and low for it in order to complete my vision.
I took the two of the pics above the changing table at my fathers ranch and the other is a pic of the sign at my husbands family's farm in Texas.
DON'T SETTLE. If you don't find what you want keep looking. As far as bedding is concerned, I recommend getting a custom set. The cost is comparable to store bought sets and it makes your child's room and bed different from everyone else. Plus you can get exactly what you envision.
