Jacquelyn’s Baby Shower

Description

A shower for my sister who is expecting a little girl. We went with a pink & brown theme and had a dessert bar for a late afternoon affair!

Design Inspiration

We chose a mod geometric invitation that was pink & brown and decided to go off of that for the theme. We wanted a sophisticated shower that was not too "baby". I poured through blogs & magazines looking at dessert bars and created our own with sweet treats from local bakeries.

Decorating Style

Clean lines, simple, sophisticated, sweet.

Project Details

Instead of renting bar glasses we bought a lot from Ikea. 6 wine glasses for $4.99! Then filled in with some things from Crate & Barrel. The mini martini glasses with spoons that were used for individual desserts were a find from Crate & Barrel. Home Goods also had some wonderful serving pieces. The old fashioned milk bottles are from Terrain and the paper straws were an Etsy find.

Favorite Items

My personal favorite was the "milk bar" and the cake pops were delicious. We had a simple cheese tray in case anyone wanted something a little savory with all of the sweets.

Advice

Keep the desserts bite size! We did chocolate covered strawberries, cake pops, mini 2 bite cupcakes, chocolate dipped chips (yum!), petit fors, bite size brownies, macaroons & a few other sweets. A lot could be made if you have time, we just chose to have the majority made from local bakeries. We made the chocolate mousse cups (super easy!)  Drinks were chocolate & strawberry milk, a pink champagne cocktail (champagne, OJ & Grenadine), sparkling pink lemonade & wine. Flowers were bunches of pink tulips.

I think that the pink and brown works really well here, and the ideas you shared us are very valuable.  I love those desserts you have... I'd remember to keep mine bite sized as well :)
