Project Details

Map letters were made with some free maps from AAA a little mod podge, burlap and the cheap paper mache letters you find in a craft store.

I found some cheap oars that were a little beat up at a yard sale, all they needed was a coat of white spray paint

I bought the curtain panels from IKEA really cheap then used reualr leftover wall paint to make the stripes, it took the ones I found at Pottery Barn for $200 down to $30.  I then hot glued some rope around old pull backs for the nautical feel.

Its all about the details:  rope cleats for hooks, rope brackets and rope to hang shelves, spray painted oars and lots of pattern.

Favorite Items

I love all my DIY projects especially the Mod Podge Map letters

Advice

I can't afford all the Pottery Barn and respiration hardware fancy stuff.  So I would gather inspiration from catalogs and think of ways to do it myself.  Home Depot was my best friend.  And don't get hung up on finding things in certain colors, anything can be spray painted.  Anything.
