Hudson Adalaide’s girly getaway

Description

This is a 'Do It On A Budget Nursery', and we had a small room to work with, but I think it turned out great :)

It was originally going to be a grey, yellow and lavender room; with owls as an accent... but somehow birds, butterflies and blossoms made their way in, along with some of my old ballet treasures.

I love the way it turned out though.

Design Inspiration

I looked around on projectnursery and pinterest and gathered a lot of DIY ideas; the room came together piece by piece, even I wasn't sure where I was heading with it.

Decorating Style

Girly, warm and soft.

Project Details

The paint and chair rail was done by my fiance Jason, it was painstaking work, but so worth it!!

The crib is my sons old crib, and the dresser and side table were given to us by family, I originally wanted white furniture but couldn't pass up freebies :D

The netting over the crib was bought way before I was even pregnant 'just in case' the next one was a girl.

The butterfly mobile and hanging butterflies were all home made as a family project (Jason actually got really into it!) They are made from coffee filters colored with markers and saturated in water... I took step by step pics of making the mobile and posted the instructions on my pinterest page. http://pinterest.com/pin/269371621432707256/

The light is from Lowes.

Favorite Items

The butterfly mobile and the overhead light :)

Advice

Not everything has to be store bought, a lot can be made by hand, and those things that were bought, a good portion was found in consignment shops; even those beautiful dresses!!

Lovely whimsical nursery. I really salute moms who go DIY when decorating their nurseries. There's just so much love that goes into every little thing we make by hand.
