Henry’s Nautical Nursery

Description

We are expecting our first born son this upcoming fall! After finding out we were having a boy, I knew immediately I wanted to go with a nautical theme. I wanted to create a room that felt both preppy and contemporary.

Design Inspiration

Our wedding colors were actually navy & yellow, so I thought I'd start with those colors when designing the nursery. After purchasing our crib, I started looking for bedding because I felt that would be a great start in the direction I was looking for. I fell in love with the classic navy bedding I found from Pottery Barn Kids. We also purchased the monogrammed sham to complete the ensemble. Everything else pretty much fell into place afterwards.

Decorating Style

My decorating style is traditional, classic and preppy.

Favorite Items

I have a lot of favorites! But, my first would probably be the rugby curtains. I also adore the bookshelves, rocking chair and sailboat mobile. Overall, I think every piece helps complete the look and feel I was going for. My husband and I are both really happy with the final result, and hopefully Henry will agree!

Advice

Have fun and take your time! Decorating Henry's nursery has been such a blast. I have always been passionate about decorating, but there is nothing more special than creating a nest for your little one :) I would also try to find pieces that will transition well into childhood.

The magic is in the details, like the blue knobs, the red lighthouse, the oar, and the sailboats mobile.
