Harrison Ellis and Lyla Jean’s Circus Twin Nursery

Description

This nursery was created for my boy/girl twins. It is a fun, bright-colored, modern vintage circus theme, but not too over-the-top circus. I wanted something to convey the circus feeling, but not too theme-ish.

Design Inspiration

First of all, my boy/girl twins. I wanted something gender neutral since they are sharing a room. I bought a piece of art that had a circus tent with the quote "may life find you looking up at a peppermint sky filled with sweet sunshine, balloons and lemon drops of endless possibilities". That pretty much started the Pinterest search for circus ideas.

Decorating Style

I love vintage with a touch of modern thrown in. I'd probably say I'm quirky and eclectic, and I LOVE color. You'll see in the pictures that we started out with an ivory rug and later changed to a red shag rug, and also put an orange throw on the glider. I think it made a huge difference.

Advice

Find one thing you love and decorate around that one thing. If you're crafty, look for ideas for things you can make yourself. In my un-professional opinion, I don't think there are rules to decorating. Do what you love and what makes you happy. And of course, if your ideas are running short, Pinterest is great inspiration!
