Description:
I wanted a custom nursery that didn't look too "themed" or too baby-ish. But, I also didn't want a big girl nursery. We stuck with gray and white and added pink, mint, aqua, and green. I think it turned out perfect for our baby girl.

Design Inspiration:
I knew I was going to use my crib from when I was a baby. So, the design turned traditional as far as the furniture went. My mom is a big garage-saler so she found a great dresser in a French Provincial style and I found a night stand at a Reuse shop. We decided on gray and white and used Annie Sloan chalk paint to get a vintage feel. I also wanted touches of modern and LOVE chevron print so that's where the glider came in. I found the glider and ottoman on Craigslist for $10. It was a horrible pink-red and badly stained. I ordered new fabric from Warehouse Fabric for $8 a yard in the gray and white chevron and had a guy recover it. Looks good as new! At first I was going to paint the walls a salmon pink. My husband took one look and said "No!". So we decided on gray and white stripes to add a more modern touch. He did a great job painting the room. I couldn't find bedding that I liked already made and packaged. I looked on Etsy and found a fabulous shop that made great bedding. Rachel ordered the fabric I chose and made the bedding and curtains custom. I love the curtains because they're black out curtains and very dark. My baby girl's middle name came from my grandmother's maiden name (Perrin). She passed away 3 years ago. In cleaning out her house my family and I found old love letters sent back and forth from her and my grandfather. They were just dating at the time. I framed a few of those letters and envelopes and made a small gallery wall. My good friend also framed a picture of my and my grandmother and a hand-written recipe for her famous chocolate sheet cake for my shower. The sheet cake was served at the shower so that's in the room too. I decided to hand stitch the bible verse onto linen fabric. I got the idea from laybabylay.com which was linked to another blog. The wall art turned out very special.
I also like owls, so we added small touches of owls all over the room. Most were gifts from friends and family. Overall, the design is just a mixture of things I like and are special to me.
