Hagan’s Rustic Nursery

Description

Hagan's nursery has an eclectic and slightly rustic feel. The wood wall was the main project in the whole room, and the room was built around it.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration came from the cedar wood wall. Everything else fell into place once the wall was complete. I wanted the room to be eclectic, with a touch of rustic. I also wanted him to be able to grow into the room, without having to change much.

Decorating Style

My decorating style is a mix of eclectic, rustic and industrial. I like mixing the use of textures, such as wood and metal with softer touches of fabric.

Project Details

For the wood wall we used cedar planks from Home Depot. They were stained and hung on the wall with a level and nail gun.

Paint - For the wall colors I choose Sherwin Williams Naval mixed at 50%. I wanted the dark navy color but I didn't want the wall to appear as dark as the original color. You can always ask the paint experts at the store to mix the paint at a different tone or darkness. They grey we used is Functional Grey, which is more of a greyiege.

Crib- The crib is the Emory Crib from Pottery Barn Kids in Charcoal

Rug - Overstock.com

Rocker - Hayneedle.com

Floor Lamp & Dresser - IKEA

Metal Storage - Wayfair

Crib Bedding - Land of Nod

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the room is the large metal H. I was lucky enough to fine this little gem in Canton, TX at first Monday. It was originally meant to be lit and was a bright teal color. My handy husband secured the metal with wood 2x4s inside the H to make sure we could safely secure it to the wall. I sanded the edges and gave it a new coat of rusty orange spray paint. I could not be more thrilled with how it turned out.

Advice

Try not to get overwhelmed with all the adorable nursery options out there. Find a few pieces that you are in love with and go from there. I started with the wood wall and the rug and everything else fell together very easily, because I was happy with those to large items.
