Shelving Facelift

Description

We have always liked to come up with new and creative ways to decorate with wall decals that will give diy enthusiasts or anyone decorating on a budget affordable, yet still stylish and fresh design solutions. One project we had not yet tried was applying decals to the back of a shelf and on the surface of a shelf so we decided to give it a try. We chose the "Flora Stripes" removable, reusable decal design from Wallforalldecals.com b/c of its easy to apply and we wanted to brighten up this dark shelf and make the pattern create a fresh & bright new look!

Design Inspiration

Our inspiration to try this project out was having seen a recent Project Nursery tweet that mentioned a featured project-'Painted Back Panel Furniture for kids.'

Decorating Style

My style is a mix of traditional and contemporary.  I like fun textures, colors and patterns.  I prefer spaces that are more clean in style without too much clutter. I also try to maintain a reasonable budget and believe keeping it simple, clean and fresh is key!

Project Details

This type of project is especially great for anyone decorating on a budget or someone who doesn't have a lot of time to spend decorating.  This project cost under $50 (cost of shelf, decals & picture frame) and took 30 minutes to complete.

Favorite Items

There are two favorites actually- 1) the fact that the wall decals applied to the back of the shelf allowed more light into each individual cubby of the shelf, making it so much easier to see inside each cubby and 2)the stripe decal pattern really POPS and looks lively and fresh against the olive green walls in the background!
