Description:
My 2 year old needed a big girl room and this is what we created. She moved from her nursery to a big girl room, so make space for baby sister due in June. Her big girl room was my craft room/junk room/hold everything room so once we finished the room, I was so glad to see it have a real purpose.

Design Inspiration:
I built my palette around the fabrics I was collecting, and anything with pink and red were a must. I wanted to keep the rug from her nursery so we kept it in mind. I wanted a room that was girly but also with a lot of color. I am a lover of color!

Decorating Style:
My style is.... I am not sure how to put it....but I like to mix old with new, and I love color. I love pattern and mixing/matching colors. Color is what rules my decorating style. With this room, I was able to use semi white curtains and a white coverlet for the bed. That was huge for me! I rarely use white.

Project Details:
My husband painted the walls a pink by Benjamin Moore and now I can't remember the color name! The dresser was a junk shop find and I painted it Strawberry Red by Benjamin Moore. The green armoire was a piece from her nursery. She is still in a crib for now but when sh moves to the big girl bed, the crib will go. Although, putting the crib in there made me realize that the room could fit 2 little ones in there. The rug is by Dash and Albert. The curtains were an inexpensive find from Marshalls. It is actually a queen quilt I cut in half and stitched the band of pink polka dots from Amy Butler's Laural Dots in Cherry (http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/amy_butler/soul_blossoms/laurel_dots_in_cherry ). The map was a find from an antiques store years ago. The white iron bed was my bed growing up and the white matlesee was a hand me down from my parents home. The fabrics on the bed for the pillows are Heather Bailey's Slim Dandy in pink ( http://www.hawthornethreads.com/fabric/designer/heather_bailey/nicey_jane/slim_dandy_in_pink.) The paintings above the bed were mine growing up as well and the black oval mirror my mom painted for some room along the way. The green lamps are Target. ( www.target.com)

Advice:
Search what you already have. You will be surprised what you can reuse and it makes the room more meaningful.
