Description

Because I had to do this room on a budget, I altered furniture we already had (the dresser, wash table, night table, nursing chair) with chalk paint and new upholstery. My ultimate goal was to create atmosphere: I wanted a warm, cozy, inviting room for both me and my baby. All of the artwork is original and was commissioned and created by friends. My husband and I are big Adventure Time fans and the bear and bull are his contribution to the room (he's big into finance and the stock market).

Design Inspiration

Hilton's Fox Nursery provided the paint colour and gallery wall inspiration.

Decorating Style

Modern kitsch.. I like to create spaces that are a mix of old and new with a touch of kitsch.

Everything! But if I have to narrow it down: the artwork and furniture.

Advice

Be flexible with your vision, find a few things you really like and build on it. Also, go easy with the dark wax if distressing with Annie Sloan products.
