Finley’s Nursery

Description

Bright, simple and colorful modern nursery.

Design Inspiration

The vintage dresser and mirror that I purchased at an estate sale two years ago and the colorful alphabet and number prints purchased from Etsy.com.

Decorating Style

I don't feel like I have a specific style.  I like a lot of different styles which sometimes makes it hard to decorate because I can't decide on one thing.  Our house was built in the 20's and we have a nice mix of modern, simple, traditional and vintage.

Project Details

The paint in the room is Martha Stewart's Cumulus Cloud.  The crib is from Wal-Mart.  http://www.walmart.com/ip/Baby-Mod-ParkLane-3-in-1-Convertible-Crib-Amber-and-White/5983290   I really wanted a crib that was all white and very simple to match the vintage dresser.  I loved the Oeuf Sparrow crib but didn't want to spend that much.  I saw the BabyMod Parklane crib on another blog in a beautiful nursery and decided to order it.  I had my husband install the drawer so it would allow the bedskirt to drop in front of the drawer.  That was the only part of the crib I didn't like but it worked out perfectly and the drawer is great for extra storage!

The bedding was made by a friend in town but the fabric on the skirt is from Cicada Studio which I found on Etsy.com.

The prints on the wall are also treasures that I found on Etsy.com.  We have a chihuahua and a golden retriever and we had to include them in the room somehow and when I found ModDog, their prints were perfect!  http://www.etsy.com/shop/ModDogShop

The number and alphabet prints came from ModernPop.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/ModernPop

I purchased the glider and ottoman from our local Pickles and Ice Cream store.  It is the Peyton glider by Best Chairs.  It is great and has been so useful.  I debated purchasing a glider and ottoman because of the price but do not regret it for one minute.  I signed up for emails from our local Pickles and Ice Cream and they sent an email for 15% off their chairs.  So be sure to sign up for email lists, you never know what kind of discount you might get!

For the rug, I used www.flor.com and chose the Rake It Over in Plum.  It is great and I would recommend Flor to anyone.

The hamper is from one of our local antique stores.  The wicker shelf was mine as a little girl, I just repainted it and wow, it turned out to be perfect.

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the nursery is the vintage dresser and mirror.  It is by Conant Ball Furniture Company and I believe it is either from the 30's or 50's. I found the dresser and mirror at an estate sale down the street from our house along with a desk and two night stands.  I purchased all 5 items for $236.00.  When I saw the pieces I could tell they were very nice and well-crafted.  All of the drawers are dove-tailed and everything is solid wood.  When I got home with all of it I searched for it online and found the pieces selling for $500-$1200 each!

Thank you for all of the nice comments!  I actually just realized this all posted.  When I was trying to upload the pics back in June I kept getting an error message.  I just happened to log on tonight and saw the comments.

To Pokadots 1131, the base for the mobile came with the mobile.  Hopefully you have found one by now.  Sorry for the really, really late response.

I have just figured out what I am going to hang about the crib and hopefully it will be ready in a week or so.  I've added some stuff to the nursery so I will take new pics and upload them in a few weeks.

For some reason, brown turns me off as dull and old... but I love that couch!  Great work!

I'm sure Finley would love what you did with this room :) I love how you used white and then broke the monotony with colors!

Love this nursery! You did a great job!

I was wondering where you found the mobile base? I want to make my own but I need a base that attches to our crib where I can hang the homemade mobile.
