Description
For being a week shy of 2, I knew my daughter would be a pistol but I never could have imagined this! Playful, girly, modern, sophisticated and bold, just like Finley - I designed and installed this room as a 2nd birthday gift for her.
Design Inspiration
A year ago I bought the pink/green tent from Home Goods for a steal! Her nursery was aqua based, vintage owl theme and she was quickly outgrowing it. The girlish tent soon became the source of inspiration for a big girl room. The other elements were collected over time, six months or more. I wanted to create a chic and stylish room with touches of Vintage Hollywood Regency styling that would grow with her over time. We also set a budget of $1,000 for this project and completed it successfully!
Decorating Style
Vintage Modern Glam with bold lines and stylish accents. The color palette was modeled after the pink, mauve green and taupe hues in the tent. I knew adding black to the mix would really create a sophisticated and dramatic feel that would "dress" her room up a bit.

Favorite Items
My favorite items are the pieces of art selected for her room. They all have a significant meaning to both my husband and I. We have carefully curated a collection of art perfect for Finley. We are such avid collectors, I am sure it will grow with her over time.
Advice
For a bold look like this, mix styles and colors - then repeat over and over again. Using different shades of the same few colors really helps to create a cohesive, thoughtful look. Choose a couple of focal points and really let them shine. Add details sparingly and thoughtfully. Also, remember function beats design every time. By creating a useable and fun space, you can't go wrong. Finally, enjoy your new space!
