Feminine Space and Science Nursery

Description

We created a fun and feminine space and science themed nursery for our little future astronaut. The room is very small so we had to use every inch of space to the maximum!  We started with a base of navy blue and white, and once we found out we were having a girl we added in pops of fuchsia.  We also added tonnes of lovely vintage items so that the overall effect reflected both Pappa's love of space and Momma's love of vintage.

Design Inspiration

Whether we were having a boy or a girl, we wanted the nursery to stimulate our child's curiosity and inspire a love of space and science.  We started with the mesmerizing Hubble Telescope pictures and built onto the theme from there.

Decorating Style

This room is filled to the brim, no minimalism here!  If it was something we loved or something beautiful, we added it.  We weren't worried about things matching perfectly or being the exact shade of matching blue; rather, if it made our heart swell we found a place for it!  Overall there is a space and science theme, but there is also a lot of vintage items and a lot of books, so our little one will have all sorts of stimulating items to look at and enjoy.

Favorite Items

The acrylic crib is just way too cool, I had to have it for my little scientist!  And that moon and star chandelier is so beautiful, it casts such gorgeous light into the room and is simply stunning.  There are a lot of little personal items that I really love (and hope she will, too) like the Mars Explorer Barbie, the custom made Addam`s Family Onesie (etsy.ca), the fashion designer books, and the Nancy Drew Collection.

Advice

Don`t worry too much about your nursery being picture perfect.  If you love something and want to add it to your room, just find a spot for it!  Rules and trends and monochrome are for magazines, create something you and your baby will love and be inspired by!
