Faisal’s Modern Safari Nursery

Description

Faisal's modern safari nursery revolved around the amazon stone chevron wall. The other items in the nursery don't compete with the bold pattern, but compliment it in a clean, simple way. I had to absolutely love each item in order for it to find a home in Faisal's nursery!

Design Inspiration

Blending the vintage rocking chair and modern chevron wall together led to my inspiration for the room. I reupholstered the rocking chair to match the overall color scheme of the room and made sure that each additional piece in the room complemented both the wall and the rocking chair. The room itself is not large, so I picked items that made an impact, but were also functional.

Decorating Style

I tend to lean towards a more modern and contemporary decorating style. I like to mix pieces that spark conversation, but overall it all has a cohesive feel. Adding texture to a room is also very important.

Favorite Items

The picture of my belly that is framed and hung over Faisal's crib. I plan on taking the same picture with my future pregnancies and giving the framed image to the child when they get older.

Advice

Pick one bold pattern for the wall and go from there. Everything will come together after the pattern is up. You'll know what looks right when you see it!

Hi I was wondering if the elephant on the wall is a decal?

I like the bookshelves in the corner and those hanging yellow and turquoise ceramic lamps (or are they lamps?)

How did you make the mobile, I love it!

I used a circle cutter, card stock, and jewelry clasps. The top part that they are all connected to is in the plant section of your craft store.

Each circle is .5 inches smaller than the next and I used an ombre color scheme

Love the room, and love the idea of painting the book shelves! Did you have to sand them first before painting?

I did not sand them, but after the fact, I would've given them a little scrub. It took a few coats of paint, but overall they turned out great.
