Evie’s 1st Birthday

Description

I wanted to create a beautiful 1st birthday party for my little girl that was a little bit vintage and really girly with lots of pink and turquoise.  I basically made all the decorations myself and baked and iced everything I could think of that was sweet!

Design Inspiration

I saw a project on Project Nursery of another 1st birthday party and fell in love with the style and the way her decorations were mostly DIY projects.  I also found lots of ideas of pinterest, especially with the food.

Project Details

Bunting:  Made from scraps of fabric I had left over from nursery projects

Letter 'E':  This was originally white and I covered it with some ribbon and made a flower to match

Fairy Lights:  DIY project I found on pinterest that I had made for her nursery already

I did a gallery of photos of her journey from birth-1 and included photos of her with all her family guests

I made her a headband to go with the dress I bought her from Cotton On Kids.

I collected baby food jars and put tea light candles in them, I also collected some bottles that were originally drinks and used them as vases for the flowers.

The cake recipe and cookie recipe were found on this amazing site www.iambaker.net - the original creator the rose cake.

My beautiful sister took photos for me.  You can find more of her photos at www.flickr.com/photos/bytammiejoske

Favorite Items

Definitely the cake.  I had never iced anything before and was really nervous about it!  But I loved it.

Advice

Find things in the house or the nursery that you already have and work around them if you are on a budget.  Most of the decorations were things in her nursery or things I had wanted to make for her nursery anyway and I was able to use them.

Gorgeous cake! Everything looks so delicious and pretty. And I love that you were inspired by a part you saw on PN!
