- A Project For: Evie
- Age: 14 months
- Location: Oklahoma
-
Description:
Calm and soothing with punches of fun color.
-
Design Inspiration:
I wanted lots of white and linen in the room to keep things neutral. I found the great curtain fabric just before we found out we were having a girl, and knew it would be perfect. I love the added pops of coral pink and blue hues against all the white.
-
Decorating Style:
Eclectic, soothing and serene.
-
Project Details:
The larger items were gifted, like the crib, rug and rocker/glider. All are from Potter Barn. The floating shelves are from Ikea and the white nesting tables were found at TJ Maxx.
The rest of the room is one big DIY project. I painted the stripes myself, refinished the Craigslist dresser as a changing table, made the LOVE art and the I Am A Child of God print. I sewed the curtain panels and the ruffle crib skirt and spray painted the thrifted mirror and frames in the room. The ABC canvas was a gift, originally from Gordman's. You can read more about the projects and the room on my blog It's a Strange and Lovely Ride at www.strangeandlovelyride.blogspot.com/2012/02/evangelines-nursery.html

Favorite Items:
All of the projects in this room were extra special to me because of who they were for. :) But I especially love the big LOVE art, made from reclaimed wood.

Advice:
Don't be afraid to put your personal touch on a room, especially a nursery. And look for fabrics and objects in out-of-the-ordinary places. I made the ruffled crib skirt from a 100% silk curtain panel that I found at Tuesday Morning, in the clearance bin. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it!
