Modern and Whimsical Boy’s Nursery

Description

When we found out we were having a boy...I wanted to steer clear of anything that was too "babyish" or typical for a little boy's room.  We wanted to go with a clean, modern, and whimsical space that little Ethan could grow into.

Design Inspiration

Once we decided on the color palette, which was gray, orange and turquoise...it helped form the plans for the nursery.  A vibrant turquoise rug, and gray and orange bedding and drapes helped pull the color scheme together.  We also had fun browsing Etsy to find whimsical and fun prints.

Decorating Style

I am usually very traditional when it comes to decorating, but with a boy on the way, I took advantage of stepping outside of the box and went with a modern look!  Everything from the crib to the rocker is much more modern than my usual style.  There are some rustic touches...which helps keep the space more masculine.

Favorite Items

I have to say...the gallery wall is my favorite!  I loved hand picking the prints and putting it all together.  The striped shower curtains turned drapes are a close second.

Advice

My best advice is to not be afraid of a little color and whimsy.  Adding the orange border to the drapes, choosing the bright turquoise rug, and making the last minute decision to add the deer head were all things I would typically shy away from, but I love how bright and cheerful the space is and can't wait for Ethan to spend the next several years enjoying his room.

I really love your babies nursery. Modern and airy but masculine.

It has a very clean, crisp, but inviting look to it. I like the world map (which adds color), but will teach Ethan from the beginning that there's a big world out there! Not your typical item for the average baby nursery!
