I don't really know where she got the bat fondness, but she has always been a little quirky. We live very close to a cave system, so in the evenings we have bats swooping through our back yard. She also loves the book "Stellaluna" about a baby bat who is raised with birds. It's a really good story about how doing things differently is not wrong, just different.

Wow, this is probably the first time I have heard of a little girl having a special fondness for bats to the point she wants to have a bat theme for her birthday party! What made her like bats in the first place? Anyway, I think it's great that she's not into the cliche little girl stuff -- like princesses and Dora the Explorer, and butterflies and flowers. She's rather unique and she really does dare to be different! Encourage her to keep it up!
