We wanted Emme to have a fun, colorful room. Since we were on a tight budget, we had to get creative and shop smart. The room really came alive after adding personal DIY touches.
Project Nursery and Pinterest gave me so many ideas! Also I like to mimic expensive looks for way less. The whole nursery cost under $500!
Bright and cheery! I try to create polished "lived in" look.
Crib-DaVinci from Walmart (gift from my parents)
Bedding-Carter's...I shopped around forever and finally found this set for a deal.
Dresser-found at a liquidation sale at a local baby store.
Armoire-already had from Pottery Barn.
Curtains-PB Teen on sale...got the set for $30!
Lantern Mobile-DIY...found lanterns at a variety of stores.
Art-bought cheap frames and spray painted them and added two prints from Zulily, the E is spray painted from Michael's, the silver frame I already had and we did a DIY maternity shoot and blew up one the pictures at Walgreen's, the white vintage-looking frames are from Target and the art inside are clippings from the gift bags from our baby shower, the mirror is from Target and I added stickers from Michael's, the LOVE frame I had and then I added left over fabric from the circles.
Circles-embroidery rings from Michael's with fabric from Hobby Lobby
I'm really proud of our book display shelves. I loved the idea of using the books as art! I also love the two stuffed pugs that represent our fur babies:) The hubby will be making art for Emme after she arrives for above the armoire...I know that will become one of my favorite pieces as well.
Shop around, when you find a good deal...jump on it! Also find a way to add personal touches. We added a picture from our wedding, used the baby shower gift bags as art, and found the stuffed pugs to rep our dogs. DIY projects really add a sense of pride and accomplishment too. AND it's fun! The projects I chose to do were actually pretty simple. You don't have to be a master crafter to make something beautiful and special for your baby's room.
