Description
Emanuel was our first born so we wanted a space that showcased our excitement but was sophisticated (without costing a fortune) and practical enough to grow with him over time.
Design Inspiration
Originally I was inspired by a white fluffy rug that reminded me of a cloud that I saw at TJ Maxx. Then I was drawn to Nautical blues for the walls, and finally I landed with something reminiscent of a calm but sparkly night sky - magical with some whimsy
Decorating Style
classic, sophisticated with a practical edge and a touch of modern simplicity
Project Details
Crib and Dresser was from Baby Appleseed's Davenport collection. We purchased from Buy Buy Baby with one of their 20% off discounts and saved a bundle. http://www.babyappleseed.com/davenportcollection.html
The paint is a blue metalic I'll have to look up the exact color.
The gigantic rocking recliner is a faux leather piece from biglots furniture.
The white cloud rug is from TJ Maxx- I love this piece and designed the room around it.
Favorite Items
How flexible the wall color has been to work with but the crib set is a close second - it's now in my newborn daughters garden party themed nursery and looks totally different but just as stunning.
Advice
The metalic paint is a huge pain. My father in law is a professional painter and he did it for us but I think he was ready to throw in the towel more than once. It's nearly impossible to avoid lapmarks but we have plaster walls and decided this wasn't a deal breaking issue for us. In the most obvious spots we strategically angle furniture to avoid the issue. Even so, I still love the color and people constantly comment on how cool and different the room is because of it.

Is the nursery really gloomy? Or is that just the picture?
