Elleanor’s Nursery

Description

This is a fun nursery filled with DIY projects and thrift store makeovers.  The budget was tight so we used things we already had and inexpensive treasures we found along the way.  I played with patterns and textures to keep things sophisticated yet playful.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration for this room came from the yellow pouf in the room.  I wanted it to be fun and playful, but also a space that would grow with her as she grows.

Decorating Style

I have an appreciation for all decorating styles.  I love clean lines and modern interiors, but I also love adding vintage elements and a little sparkle to my decor to keep things interesting.

Project Details

This room was done on a pretty tight budget so I used a mixture of thrift store finds and DIY projects to achieve the look I wanted.  I updated a hand me down crib with a DIY headboard.  It gives the room a more sophisticated feel and keeps the crib from looking too plain.  http://www.dwellingsbydevore.com/2012/01/crib.html

Favorite Items

My favorite item in this room would have to be the DIY birdcage chandelier I made for the space.  It's so fun and playful and my little one loves looking at it.  Tutorial found here:  http://www.dwellingsbydevore.com/2011/12/tweet.html

Advice

Don't be afraid of color, textures, and patterns.  Mix things up to keep things from looking too packaged.

How did you do the "headboard" for the baby crib? Love that idea!

The DIY birdcage chandelier is a really interesting touch. Just based on your photo, the birds look rather real. I also like your subtle play with prints and patterns and textures. They do not really shout for attention, but when you look closely, it's there.
