Gray and Pink Nursery with a Splash of Green

Description

Crafty bedroom with gray and pink and a dash of green.

Putting together Penelope's nursery was one of the most fun things I've done. I can't say that my husband would agree as he had tons of IKEA furniture to put together. I have to say that her room is my favorite in the house. It's the nicest and the one that's most well put together.

Design Inspiration

Our inspiration for the room came from her bedding which I found at Pottery Barn Kids and was perfectly titled Penelope Bedding. I HAD to have it!!!

Decorating Style

I'd like to think this room has a crafty chic style to it with a little cottage flair. I just wanted something that comfortable and easy to look at. Not overly busy or too plain.

Project Details

The dresser/changing table, green table, and wardrobe are all from IKEA. The crib is from Target and the leather recliner is a vintage piece given to us by our former neighbor. The grey shabby rug is from IKEA.

We LOVED the tree decals we would see online but since our walls had rough texture we knew that wouldn't be possible. So I drew a tree on the wall and my husband painted it. Later we cut out leafs from different colored felts. I bought felt birds, squirrel and owl from Etsy www.etsy.com/shop/lovelyfriend and velcroed them to the wall so they can be removed and played with. The dog is also painted on. The bird house was one of MANY used for my baby shower and made by my sister.

Her closet is currently being transformed into a reading nook.

Favorite Items

Love the little milk glass sugar and creamer set that she can play with once she's old enough to be responsible with it. Otherwise, I love the IKEA wardrobe. It's surprising how small it is yet how much I fill it.

Advice

Do something that's easy enough to accomplish while you're big a pregnant. Stick with colors you love and patterns you enjoy looking at because the truth is you're going to be the one enjoying the room until your sweet little baby is old enough to enjoy it themselves.
