Coral and Mint Arrow Theme Girls Nursery

Description

A coral and mint arrow arrow theme baby girl's nursery.

Design Inspiration

I came across a print that said "Be Brave Little One".  I wanted to create a nursery using this idea, keeping it really girly but with very little use of the color pink.  I wanted something she could easily grow up with.

Decorating Style

I am an interior designer.  I work in mostly mid to high end modern and contemporary design.  While I wanted a crib that was streamlined, I wanted something a little softer for her nursery. I also wanted something that you can not just buy on an end cap in a baby store.

Project Details

The dresser came from my neighbors teenage daughter, it was in rough shape.  I sanded it down and re-painted it with Sherwin Williams SW 6606 Coral Reef.  I found the glass owl knobs from Hobby Lobby (50% off they were only $2.49 each!

The mirror was a shower gift from the company I work for.  It's from a mirror company called Bassett Mirror and it is called "beatrix" I believe you can buy it online for around $300.00

The two canvas prints were images I had pinned on pinterest and one of my best friends (who is also an art teacher) had re-created them for me as a shower gift.

The gold arrow piece on the wall came from the etsy shop belonging to ShabbyAnchor, it was $21.99

The arrow curtain rod came from Urban Outfitters (the rob and the arrow attachments are sold separately but you need that specific rod to fit the arrow details.  The arrow's were grey and a dark hunter green (I painted over the green with mint to fit better into the space.

The coral arrow fabric for the curtains came from Spoonflower.com

The crib is the babyletto hudson from BabiesRUs

The sheets are coral Chevron from Target

The coral fox pillow/stuffed animal is a Zulily find

The wall behind the crib was quite the project.  I wanted to do something similar to the popular "pallet" walls but without all the work of finding and tearing apart a hundred pallets.  We decided to go with 1"x6"x6' pine boards from Menards (you can get them at any lumber yard/store).  I found 3 different shades of grey paint, a metallic silver (Disney brand from wallchart), and Sherwin Williams SW6464 Aloe (mint green).  I cut down, primed, and painted all the boards before we hung them on the wall (this was to insure that all the edges that may be exposed were painted).

The "Penelope" letters were a shower gift that came from www.craftcuts.com.  You can chose your font, size, thickness, and colors of your letters!

The other three walls were painted in a nice neutral grey tone (I do not recall the sherwin williams color).  The stencil work over the grey was done by a stencil purchased from www.cuttingedgestencils.com.  I added 1 pint of white to my wall color to create a very subtle change, since they stencil is super busy.

Not shown is the white and grey chevron rocker/recliner, which has not come in the mail yet.  We are also waiting on a custom quilt (made by my grandma).  I had custom fabric made with Penelope's name as well as other arrow theme fabrics all from www.spoonflower.com

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the nursery will be my baby girl!  But until she arrives I am in love with her mirror.  It really has nothing to do with the arrow theme of the nursery, but it adds a really cool element to the space.  It also reminds me of something Celtic/Irish which is my husbands heritage.

Advice

Any advise I would give.  Hire a designer! And also do not be scared to stray away from the standard "themes" you find at baby stores.  Be creative :)
