- A Project For: Jake
- Age: 3
- Location: Oakland, CA
-
Description:
A toddler's room that is timeless in a small space for a big imagination.
-
Design Inspiration:
I wanted to do a transportation themed room, but found this amazing bedding and awesome plane decals and it all came together. Jake loves laying in bed and looking at his planes flying above him.
-
Decorating Style:
I would best describe by decorating style as simple and modern. I wanted furniture in my son's room that would last and a theme that he would not outgrow in a year or two. The dark gray walls are from his nursery and I just love them, so I was so happy I was able to keep the color for his new room.
-
Project Details:
The bedding came from Dwell and the plane wall mural is from weeDECOR (www.weedecor.com). The furniture is from Room and Board - if we were ever going to change his furniture, this furniture would easily transition to a grown up space. The bedside table is from Ikea - we painted it a custom paint color to match the blue in the bedding.
-
Favorite Items:
The bedding is the center piece of the room and the plane wall mural really pulls it together. I also love the globe with the airplane and the city map of Oakland - both of these pieces picked up at a local boutique. The magnet boards are from Ikea - I love that we can change up family pics and artwork and add some personal touches to his room. The banner above his window I had made for 2nd bday party - I thought it added a nice pop of color to a bland space.
-
Advice:
Keep items simple, especially in a small space. The white ground in the bedding and the lighter furniture really keeps the room feel airy, even with the dark walls.
