Circus Nursery

Description

A fun circus themed nursery filled with color.

Design Inspiration

I was inspired by PotteryBarn's circus themed bedding. It wasn't, however, as colorful as I was wanting so I decided to punch it up a bit by adding bold fabrics that coordinated with the original design but also created the bright and fun atmosphere that I was wanting to create.

Decorating Style

I'm very traditional but love colorful and whimsical children's rooms.

Project Details

The bed and changing table are from Bratt Decor (www.brattdecor.com). The bumper pad, pillows, and carousel mobil are from Pottery Barn Kids (potterybarnkids.com). I also purchased a striped window panel from PotteryBarn that I then used as material for my bedskirt, window drape and chair. The stripe when combined with the navy and red polka dot fabrics that I purchased seemed to tie everything together. I especially loved the rocking chair. It was a $25.00 purchase from the local Rhea Lana sale (www.rhealana.com) that I had recovered. I found the personalized circus banner that is hanging over the crib at www.poshtots.com. I purchased the four frames over the changing table from Hobby Lobby, spray painted them, and then glued the wooden balls to the corners. The rug and red buckets are from Target (www.target.com). The precious personalized blocks and red picture frame came from a great site (http://designetcllc.blogspot.com/). A friend of mine did a wonderful job in painting an old chest, lamp, and side table for the room.

Favorite Items

The chair turned out so great and the personalized banner from www.poshtots.com really seems to complete the room and tie in the theme. I also love the cute elephant rocker I found. I had a little saddle made for it out of left over polka dot fabric.

Advice

You can easily customize any bedding to more your taste by simple adding additional ties, buttons, or ruffles. Choose something that inspires you and build around it!

I love circus-themed rooms because they are so bright and fun.  What's more you have polka dots as a sub-theme.  Great work!

Sometimes, I'm scared to do a circus theme because of the number of colors involved.  But you did it pretty nicely!
