Charlotte’s Butterfly Garden Party

Description

For Charlotte's first birthday, I created a butterfly garden party in pinks, white and ivory with butterflies, burlap, mason jars, tissue pom poms, and other vintage touches.

Design Inspiration

I was inspired by our home's natural garden setting, complete with butterfly bushes and butterflies everywhere during the summer. Beyond that, I took my inspiration from my daughter's pink, white and ivory nursery, and from my own love of pink, butterflies, and event design.

Decorating Style

I consider my decorating style primarily transitional with a touch of vintage flair.

Project Details

I did the event design & styling - Kate of Peony Party Designs

I worked with so many wonderful vendors and Etsy sellers...

Catering: Tallulah's (West Hartford, CT)

Rentals: Party Plus (Manchester, CT)

Flowers: Whole Foods (West Hartford, CT)

I ordered the tissue pom poms, paper lanterns and parasol from Luna Bazaar.

The candy, treat bags, party hat and bib, butterfly lanterns, paper straws, easel for chalkboard sign, and mason jars are from Amazon.com.

The caterer provided the children's lunch pails, apothecary jars, and burlap for the serving tables.

Favorite Items

I loved the burlap and lace table runners, as I felt that they "made" the tables. I was also thrilled with our caterer's ability to make the dessert table come to life with a little styling with the burlap, elevated three-tiered cake, and incorporating elements (treat bags, paper butterflies) in unexpected ways.

Advice

Scour the web for inspiration, start a board on Pinterest, and contact vendors who can work with you to bring your vision to life. I worked with so many wonderful sellers on Etsy as well as a terrific caterer and rental company locally. Hire a professional photographer so that you will have beautiful photos of your event without the stress of documenting the day yourself. On the day of the party, leave all the details behind and enjoy your party and your guests - the results of your hard work!

Such a beautiful party. Nice, appropriate theme and just by looking at the pictures, I can tell everything else was just executed perfectly.

Beautiful! I love all the details. I was hoping that I would get to see her nursery. I saw where you said that it was pink, white & ivory. That is the colors that I used for my little girl nursery. I looked at your other projects and there is nothing. Is that picture taken of the three of you in front your front door? I love the color of the door! Could you tell me what the color is of the front door? Thanks!

Thanks, Jan! This is the first project I've posted, but I will try to post pictures of her nursery soon. The front door is Spring Rain by Benjamin Moore (723). We love it! Thanks again for leaving a comment. :)
