Caterpillar Picnic Party

Description

This Hungry Caterpillar First birthday party was for my daughter Evie.    We threw it at a local park and invited all of our friends and family.  It was such a fun time celebrating our little lovebugs first birthday.

Design Inspiration

I was inspired by the story and then LOTS of ideas on Pinterest.  I had a whole board of just ideas.  It was so fun to see it all come to life.

Decorating Style

Fun and thematic.  I really loved all of the colors.  I wanted it to be girly in the rainbow aspect, but really keep to the theme of the story.

Project Details

This party was basically done by me and some great family members.  I made the balloon arch and all of the decorations and most of the food.  My friend and I followed recipes I had found on Pinterest and made the caterpillar cake-pops (which were a HUGE hit with the kids!)  A local Bakery (Cakes by Linda) made the mini-cake for Evie and the little cherry pies.  The mini ice cream cones were actually Oreo truffles in sawed off cones.  I based all of the food on the book and used tags from the blog Polka Dots and Puppies.  The lollipops (our favors) were ordered online and I made the tags.

Favorite Items

I love how the balloon arch turned out.  It was so festive and added to the fun!

Advice

This party for 50 or so people was done very cost effectively.  We served lunch and dessert.  Having it in the park was really nice.  If you start early enough with making your own decorations, you can save a lot of money.  Don't be afraid to try something new...the cake pops weren't as hard to do as i had thought.

Yes, I agree with Diane. If you have a chance, please reload your photos. We'd love to see the full size of this fun and colorful party! Thanks.

I'm seeing lots of colors and lots of exciting and fun details. Too bad the photos are too small!
