Cassidy’s Whimsical Aqua and Pink Nursery

Description

Baby girl's nursery.

Design Inspiration

Inspired by a beautiful aqua owl lamp and lampshade by Lolli Living and various shades of pink.

Decorating Style

Personal, whimsical, dream-like - for this project, I wanted the room to look and feel special and magical for Cassidy and for our family.

Project Details

Furniture all from Ikea
Lamp and shade from Lolli Living
Purple wooden bunny from local craft fair
Most art from Ikea or craft fairs
Carpet from Safavieh
Rocking Chair from Craigslist
Mobile from My Baby Sam

Favorite Items

Obviously the lamp and shade from Lolli Living, but there were a lot of close contenders!  The letters spelling her name in Hebrew behind the rocking chair and personalized map from Etsy sellers were personal but also color and theme appropriate, which was what I was going for!

Advice

I had a VERY small nursery with no windows, so had to be judicious with space - sometimes it felt like a game of Tetris!  Nevertheless, I was able to achieve all of my functional goals - pullout couch and rocking chair in addition to the crib and changing area - by thinking creatively about dimensions.  Regarding the look, I hope the nursery sends the message that you can have a personal look without sacrificing design and aesthetic - key to this for me were scouring Etsy, craft fairs, and staying broadly consistent with colors (while not being afraid to throw in a few additional colors as necessary.)  Also, it shouldn't have to cost a fortune!  Use Craigslist where you can - pillows and the rocking chair were both found there, and keep your eye on online boutique sales from Gilt, Rue La La, and Zulily to round out both design and functional requirements.

Very pretty and charming space for your baby girl. I wish you posted closeup photos of the nursery's details, like those framed artworks. They look very interesting from afar.
