Design Inspiration:
I tried to channel Buckingham Palace and decorate the nursery using the question "how would Prince William and Kate Middleton decorate their nursery?"

My decorating style is a mix of glam and elegance with just a bit of quirky thrown in to keep it from being predictable and boring.

Project Details:
The nursery had its fair share of DIY projects. I spent hours searching the internet and fabric stores for the perfect girlie curtains. I finally found the pink patterned fabric at Making Ends Meet in Shelbyville, KY. My grandmother then sewed the curtains to fit the 11' ceilings in our pre-civil war home.
The 4' x 3' frame above the crib was originally a brass mirror. My husband lovingly removed the mirror and spray painted it glossy white. The small, decorative frames for the birds were also originally brass and my husband painted those white, too.
The baroque mirrors were bought at Ikea and were originally black. You guessed it - my husband painted those, too. (I think he'll be happy to never see a spray paint can again.)
The 8' tall armoire was a scratch and dent item I found on clearance. I got a great deal at 50% off. With a couple coats of white gloss paint, it looks brand new and provides the perfect storage for all of McBaby's frilly dresses.

Favorite Items:
The toucan shaped rocker is my favorite piece. It was one of my first purchases for the nursery. I found it while scouring a thrift store and just knew it had to come live at my house!
The rug was my splurge purchase for the room. I found it online at Overstock.com and though it was pricey, it helped anchor the room and add to the calming feel of the nursery.

Advice:
My advice for other Project Nursery readers is to start on the nursery early! By starting on the nursery design early, I was able to search and find the perfect items instead of settling for a piece.
