- A Project For: Benjamin
- Age: 3 1/2 months
- Location: CT
-
Description:
We tried to create a nursery that was a little modern, a little vintage, light & airy, with a dash of fun and color. We combined new, modern items with my family pieces. We still want to add a bookcase and a few more art pieces.
-
Design Inspiration:
Our design inspiration was actually another Project Nursery project called "Zoey's Handmade Haven". We switched it up a bit for a boy.
-
Decorating Style:
I love modern and vintage, especially the combination in the same space. I also love bold colors and airy, open spaces.
-
Project Details:
We chose a really light paint color called "Barely There" by Muralo.
We wanted a pop of color, so we chose the Dwell Studio Draper Stripe rug in Citrine: http://www.dwellstudio.com/home-decor-accents/decorative-rugs/draper-stripe-citrine-rug-5x8.html).
We combined a modern, clean-lined white crib (Babyletto Mercer: http://www.babyletto.com/products/mercer-3-in-1-convertible-crib-with-toddler-rail) with vintage wooden pieces: my grandmother's rocking chair and my grandfather's dresser.
We added art to the room from art.com:
A Classic Pooh print by Peter Ellenshaw called "Autumn Leaves": http://www.art.com/products/p10288970-sa-i837590/peter-ellenshaw-winnie-the-pooh-autumn-leaves.htm?sorig=cat&sorigid=0&dimvals=5004902&ui=fd1135fd663d45b386e23d3948f5b1db
We made a three print series using the work of Astrid Wielinga:
- Ginny the Giraffe: http://ar.art.com/products/100008/Ginny-Giraffe.htm
- Hippo: http://ar.art.com/products/494087/Dancing-hippo-II.htm
- Zebra: http://ar.art.com/products/59306/Zebra.htm
The little animals over the changing table/dresser were part of a diaper cake I received at my shower. I couldn't just throw them away and thought they would be great for Ben to look at when he was getting changed.
We used Target Home Basketweave Curtains in grey - the fabric reminds me of an old vintage suit.
We also loved the 3 sprouts storage bins. We went with the zebra one first. We might add more later.

Favorite Items:
I love having pieces from my grandparents in the room. It is a little bit of my history in his space. I also LOVE the rug and the Peter Ellenshaw print.
