We built a bright and colourful new bedroom for our toddler, since his new baby brother was soon going to be occupying our existing nursery.
Design Inspiration
I love DwellStudio's Transportation bedding, so I designed the room around that.

Project Details
My brother is a carpenter, so he built the room for us with a some help from my husband. We chose to use durable, sustainable bamboo flooring. I couldn't find an area rug that I liked, that was in our price range, so I created my own using FLOR carpet tiles in 5 different shades. I love that they're made with 100% recycled fibers, and each tile can be individually washed, moved or replaced if necessary.
Crib: Babyletto Hudson. I love the 2 toned wood and modern design.
Dresser: I refinished my childhood dresser to match the crib using water-based stain.
Bedding and matching storage bins are from DwellStudio's Transportation line.
I designed the matching artwork based on the bedding, and I also designed the birth stats art print, available from MarsDesignStudio on Etsy. (www.marsdesignstudio.etsy.com)
The chair is a 'Poang' from IKEA, with a personalized "B" pillow from Mable Dear on Etsy.
The teal lamps are from Target.
Favorite Items
I love so many things about the room, it's hard to pick a favourite! I guess I'd have to say the crib and the bedding, since that was the inspiration for the whole room.
Advice
If you can't find exactly what you have in mind, create it yourself!
