Baby Wolfrum’s Nursery

Description

This is a nursery for my first baby girl. Of course once we found out we were having a girl I immediately started thinking about her nursery. I wanted something girly but not over the top. We decided to go with neutral colors and pops of baby pink. We also incorporated animal prints.

Design Inspiration

I wanted something that our baby could grow with. I was inspired by girly animal-themed nurseries. I got a lot of my inspiration from Pinterest and Project Nursery. Here is a link to my Nursery Inspiration Board.

Decorating Style

I am always drawn to antique, vintage, shabby-chic feels.

Project Details

We did not have a lot of money (if any) to spend on our nursery, so we definitely were budget conscious when creating this room. Most of the items in our nursery were things we already had, items that were given to us, or things we found for dirt cheap at resale shops, garage sales, etc...

We started by painting the room a neutral color that wasn't too bold. I wanted her nursery to have a calm, peaceful feeling. The paint is called Sisal by Martha Stewart for Glidden. I must admit, I was not that impressed with the paint itself, but love the simplicity of the color.

FURNITURE: The crib is the Kathryn Safety-Gate Crib by Baby's Dream  that was given to us by a family friend.  The dresser with the mirror is a family antique. The small pink dresser was found in a basement. We repainted it using a DIY chalk-paint technique. It cost us under $10! Here is a Pinterest link! We also added the crystal knobs.

ACCENTS: The large pink and brown rug we bought from Target as well as the baby pink curtains. The chandelier we found at a resale shop. It was originally black and we painted it pink and added the crystals (from Michaels)! A lot of the nick-nacks sitting around were mine from when I was a baby. We found the animal wall art and zebra print curtains at Burlington Coat Factory for close to nothing.

The crib bedding was definitely the one splurge that was bought for us by our grandmother. It is from Carousel Designs (babybedding.com). I looked forever for the perfect bedding and kept going back to this one. I am OBSESSED with it. It was actually one of the pieces that inspired the whole room. It was a MUST!

Favorite Items

My favorite item is probably the chandelier. I always knew that if I had a girl she would have a chandelier. It makes the room feel so much more girly and romantic. I also really love her bedding.

Advice

I really focused in on my idea and spent a lot of time just getting inspiration. From there we didn't jump the gun on buying stuff. You will be surprised what other people are willing to help you with and what you will find! Go to resale shops, flea markets, Craigslist, and garage sales. Think outside of the box and have fun with it!
