Baby Wan’s Colorful Nursery

Description

A bright, colorful, and playful nursery for our future son.

Design Inspiration

We wanted to create a fresh and colorful nursery that our son could grow into as he enters the toddler years.  It was also important for the room to be gender neutral to accommodate future children.  I was really inspired by an abacus that we bought the day after I found out I was pregnant!

Decorating Style

Modern and happy.

Project Details

Crib Skirt: DIY from a fabric remnant, Crib: Stork Brand, Canopy: IKEA, Multicolored Pillow: IKEA, Teal Pillow: Relocated from my living room to the nursery, Rocking Chair: I already owned this (it was white before) and my dad spruced it up by painting it a bright red, Dresser: Handed down from my parents, Changing Station: Boon FRESH Changing Station, Sheets: Amazon, Primary Color Wall Decals: Amazon, Owl: Bought at Target many years ago and spray painted yellow, Rug: IKEA

Favorite Items

Of course, my all time favorite thing in the nursery is my little dog, Gilligan, who likes napping in front of the crib even though the baby isn't here yet!  I also love the rocking chair that my dad painted red and the changing table.  The wall decals (less than $10 on Amazon!) really made an impact on the plain white walls.

Advice

Overall, have fun creating your nursery and don't worry about choosing a definitive theme. Choose items that are functional and make you happy to look at. Be open to re-purposing existing furniture like dressers and rocking chairs (as long as they are safe, of course). Also, involve your husband or significant other as much as possible!
