Baby R’s Sweet Space

Description

We wanted a space that was feminine and sweet but not your typical "princess" look for our little girl.  Using white, yellow and gray as our main colors gave us exactly the look we were going for.  We also wanted to incorporate personal aspects and details from our families to make it a truly unique space.

Design Inspiration

I don't think I could've done this room without all the fabulous PN submissions and Etsy.  Every time I would hit a roadblock, I'd log on here and review past projects for new inspiration.  It worked every time!

Decorating Style

I wanted to incorporate modern, vintage and DIY aspects all into one space.  We only bought the crib and changing table new and the other furniture was either given to us, we refinished or we made.

Project Details

The bookshelf/toy cabinet was built by my husband and then we re-finished it.  The glider was given to us by a co-worker. The throw pillow was purchased from overstock.com and can be found here http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Heart-Applique-Stitched-Pillow/6115439/product.html Pom poms over the glider from Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/addijaipartypoms "You are my sunshine" print from Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/ForKeepsDesigns The adorable book-ends from Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/harperjanssen Name banner from Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/harperjanssen Crib bedding by Migi, purchased from Bed, Bath & Beyond (also available at Target). Crib is Graco and was purchased from Walmart.com Changing table purchased from Target.com The small chair was my grandmother's when she was little and has been passed down in the family.  I added the birds to it, those can be purchased at Michael's.  I bought the chalkboard and the shelf over the changing table at Hobby Lobby and painted and added details of my own.

Favorite Items

I absolutely adore the name banner that hangs over her crib.  It's so sweet and vintagey and there's only one like it!  I am also in love with her custom-made bookends and her bedding is just so sweet!  I also just like sitting in the glider and looking around her room and seeing so many items that have so much history in our family.  You just can't buy those!

Advice

Start early!  It was fun to see this room grow into something that truly means so much to both of us and it was imperative that each item fit just right.  You can't rush that process. This has been a labor of love for MONTHS and now that it's done, I'm not sure what to do with myself.  I already miss decorating it!

I like how the touches of yellow here and there pop out. And your lamp beside the crib is really beautiful. I also like the small chair, especially with the fact that it's been passed down from your grandma.
