Austin’s Orange and Teal DIY Nursery

Description

We wanted a fun kids room for our baby, a room that he could easily grow into, so something baby-ish was out of the picture. I love foxes and my husband's favourite colour is orange. We incorporated orange in small details and added turquoise as a nice contrasting colour. We mixed different woods and kept the walls neutral, the longest wall a light foggy grey and the others, alternating horizontal stripes of a bakery box white and parisian taupe (both by Behr) Budget was an integral part of designing Austin's room, all of the big furniture is from ikea (who doesn't love ikea?) We hacked a few of the pieces and/or changed little things to make them more personal to our project.

Design Inspiration

I started off with a plush fox toy, I took the Orange from the fox and added the turquoise as a contrasting colour

Favorite Items

My favourite item in Austin's room is the miniature animal head wall art I made for him, I had spotted it somewhere on the web and thought, I could make that! Another one of my favourite things in this room is the crochet fox pillow I finished just in time for his arrival.

Advice

Gather things you like, and experiment with colour as well as textures!
