Asher’s serene nursery

Description

This room has a lot of things that have meaning to them. The tree wall decal  is my favorite piece in the room. Our daughter was stillborn at 27 weeks in November 2011 and I really wanted to incorporate her in to the room. I love the saying in the Notebook, if you're a bird, I'm a bird so this tree with the pink and teal birds were perfect. I added scrapbooking stickers to spell out their names. At 26 weeks, we found out that Asher has a severe heart condition. We ended up going to Houston to have a fetal intervention done and we kept saying that the stars were aligning for him so that is where all the stars come in to play.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration for the room was to do as much of it as I could myself. A majority of the pieces are made by me and have meaning to them.

Decorating Style

I love a diy room that is kind of vintage or modern. I really don't like rooms where everything matches and has a set theme.

Project Details

All the furniture came from Target except for the bookshelf which is from Ikea and the bench which was made by my sister-n-law with pieces from Ikea.

The Yellow lyrics print was ordered on Etsy from Wallfry. All the other prints were images printed from Pinterest or DIY art that I did myself using scrapbooking supplies and the Cricut.

The crib skirt and comforter came from RH Baby & Child and the sheet came from Aden & Anais.

One diy piece that I did was adding chalkboard contact sheets to the mirrored closet. Each week of the pregnancy I took a photo of baby's size with the growth of my belly.

Favorite Items

My favorite item is the tree wall decal with the birds. My other favorite item is the print with the lyrics to Yellow with the diy mobile hanging above it.

Advice

Make as much of the items as you can, search Pinterest for ideas or look to etsy for cute art. I love that this nursery has a lot of meaning to it.
