Amelia’s Nursery

Description

This is our nursery for our first baby!  As soon as I found out we were having a girl, my ideas stared churning!  I knew I didn't want traditional pink, pink and more pink...especially since one of my favorite colors is Coral.  So I had to think outside the box.

Design Inspiration

First, I knew I wanted the white beadboard half walls and new paint on the walls.  Originally, I had thought about making the walls coral, but I decided a neutral would be best so we went with China Doll from Sherman Williams.  I wanted it to make it completely original with using furniture we already had with a mix of new.  My inspiration began with the color coral which I knew I wanted represented in the room.  Then I found the great unique material at Ikea for my drapes which set my design in motion.

Decorating Style

I like traditional, eclectic and vintage.

Project Details

First we put the white beadboard, new mirrored closet doors, and fresh paint.  The light fixtture is from Ikea.  The dresser was our first cheap purchase after we got married.  Its a black dresser from Target that my husband painted coral blush. I still havent found the hardware that speaks to me, so I just had my hubby spray paint the original ones gold.  The curtains are from Ikea material which I had my local tailor sew for me.  As for the crib, I wanted something very simple and inexpensive because I know I get bored easily! So we purchased the white crib at Walmart.  The bedding is from Giggles--I bought individual pieces since I am not into matchy sets.

Favorite Items

Revamped dresser, curtains and happy colors!

Advice

Be original, and start in advance!!  I pinned a lot of inspiration and put all my nursery ideas on paper first.

Cool nursery. Also love the colors you chose. I am not a fan of that curtain, though. It's almost psychedelic.
