All A Flutter

Description

We were restricted by space in this narrow room therefore decided to build a custom daybed and bookshelves to make the most efficient use of our space. The little girl in this room was not ready to transfer entirely out of her crib yet so we tucked it in the corner to leave room for her favorite rocker and a big girl dresser.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration for colors and fabrics used in this project came from the Osborne & Little Bird Cage wallpaper.  We loved the contrast of a traditional feminine wallpaper in a modern home. Yes it is very girly but for a family with only one daughter they were excited to keep the feeling of the room young, fresh and sweet.

The design of the daybed was inspired by a daybed originally designed by Massucco Warner Miller.  My client handed me a photo of it and basically loved it and wanted a version for her daughter.

 

 

Decorating Style

These clients have a modern home with walnut flooring and built-ins throughout the house.  To soften up the girl's room we painted the wood for the built-ins and layered feminine accessories and fabrics.

Favorite Items

My favorite aspect of the room is definitely the wallpaper.  It truly makes a statements and was a big commitment but worked beautifully.

Advice

Mixing traditional decor and accessories with modern furniture creates an interesting and sophisticated look suitable for any style of home.
