Adam’s Nautical Nursery

Description

We wanted a special room dedicated for our first Baby.

We decided to have a room with nautical design inspiration because here were we live in North Germany at Baltic Sea in a harbor city.

Our baby will grow up surrounded by nautical and sailing influences and this was the best argument for us to choose this theme.

Life quality here is strongly benefiting by the beaches, the ocean and the maritime  climate.

We live in a small apartment and for the birth of our baby family and friends came to visit, thats why we decided to add a very small guest corner.

Design Inspiration

Nautical motives and the colors blue as the boy color and yellow because is bright and fun. The room resembles the ocean and the sand.

Decorating Style

Modern and functional and appropriate detail for children.

Project Details

I love to sew so this was the ideal occasion to create something unique  for my baby. I made the boats mobile for the crib.

The curtains were also my hand made, quite a challenge for the type of window but totally succeeded.

I also decorated the frames that hang behind the crib with nautical tissues and forms.

The skirt of the crib was also a continuation of the striped walls.

Favorite Items

I love every detail that i was choosing, but i can say that the mobile is my favorite because is a unique item for the room and my baby will enjoy it a lot!

The nautical frame is also a detail that makes the guest part of the room colorful but modern in a way. The picture is a print from Franco Costa a local artist that is well known in whole Germany.

I think that the little net is rather cute. I also agree with Gwendolyn. The sloping ceiling adds a different dimension to the room, unlike the boring box-shaped space. The rest of the nautical touches are lovely.

I like that it has a nautical theme but centers on soft yellow. Love the sloped ceiling and the arched door, and the little corner for guests, too!
